Red Bull Racing unveil debut NFT collection ahead of Mexican GP

·1 min read

Formula One team Red Bull Racing has partnered with Tezos to launch a limited edition NFT release for this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix.

The collection will commemorate Sergio Perez’ first race for Red Bull in his native Mexico with an NFT collection based on his Mexican GP helmet.

The focus of the 10,000 piece collection will be the racing helmet which dons a unique, special edition design, and will be available on Tezos marketplace Sweet ahead of Sunday’s race.

Red Bull also announced it was to release more racing memorabilia in the future, including more limited edition pieces and one-off collectables.

Additionally, the team will be giving away digital collectables featuring Perez’ race suit.

Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing CEO, spoke of his excitement at the upcoming collection.

“Red Bull Racing has always been at the forefront of innovation and technology, both on and off track,” he said.

“We’re really excited to be able to give fans a new, immersive and fun opportunity to get even closer to the team by owning part of our history.”

The NFT collection is due to be the first of many in Tezos’ partnership with Red Bull, which was formed due to the energy-efficient nature of the blockchain.

Tezos is also the team’s official blockchain partner, which sees the Tezos logo and branding featured prominently on the cars of Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Perez.

Cryptocurrencies have now become a stalwart in motorsports sponsorships for many other blockchains including Fantom and Avalanche.
