Reese Witherspoon’s ‘Big Little Lies’ Beach House Is Available to Rent (Hello, Summer Vacay!)
When HBO’s Big Little Lies made its debut in 2017, it had all the makings of a mega-successful series: a seductive storyline, a star-studded cast, and—perhaps most addicting for design devotees—glimpses into some gorgeous California real estate.
Fans of the show, season two of which premiered June 9, can pine over the contemporary, glass-walled escapes of Celeste (played by Nicole Kidman) and Renata (Laura Dern). But super-fans can now go a step further by spending a vacation living just like (well maybe not just like) Madeline Mackenzie. The show’s star character, portrayed by Reese Witherspoon, plays house in a Cape Cod-style mansion set, as the show says, on the craggy coast of the Monterey peninsula. In reality, Reese and company film scenes for the show in a gorgeous seven-bedroom vacation rental on the pristine shores of Malibu.
Available from $3,000 to $5,000 per night through Malibu Luxury Vacation Homes, the renovated getaway is perched right on an 80-foot stretch of sand along Broad Beach, an exclusive area of Malibu famous for its celeb residents. Big Little Lies buffs might recognize the home’s window-wrapped exterior or its double-decker patio spaces. The swoon-worthy kitchen, with an extra-large island, three ovens, subway tile backsplash, and uninterrupted ocean views, is also a frequent film spot.
And those aren’t the only features that make this sunny escape a star in its own right. With 6,000 square feet of living space, the luxurious main home boasts two separate master suites, one of which comes with its own private deck, outdoor fireplace, and an adjoining room perfect for small children. Downstairs, a second master suite offers an alfresco jacuzzi and his-and-hers walk-in closets. Elsewhere on the spacious beachfront lot, a two-story guest house accommodates five with a full kitchen and living room.
