Denver Nuggets forward Paul Millsap is expected to miss four-to-six weeks after he suffered a broken big toe last week against the Charlotte Hornets, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Millsap left the Nuggets’ 113-107 loss to the Hornets in the third quarter after he attempted to contest a shot from Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and landed awkwardly. Kidd-Gilchrist drew a foul on the play, and Millsap was seen walking in pain on his way to the bench. He didn’t return, and it was later determined that he broke his big toe in his right foot.

The 13-year-veteran has averaged 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game so far this year. Millsap, who is in his second year with the Nuggets, missed significant time last season with a wrist injury, too.

Per Charania, Millsap should be ready to return sometime in mid-January — barring any setbacks in his recovery.

The Nuggets will now be down two starters at least until January, as guard Garry Harris suffered a right hip injury last week, too. Harris, who is averaging 16.6 points per game while shooting nearly 44 percent from the field so far this year, suffered a hip injury late in the first quarter of the Nuggets’ 106-103 win against the Toronto Raptors on Monday. He is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

The Nuggets currently sit in third in the Western Conference standings with a 17-9 record.
