DENVER (AP) _ Resolute Energy Corp. (REN) on Monday reported a loss of $14.3 million in its third quarter.

The Denver-based company said it had a loss of 70 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 42 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 71 cents per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $106.7 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $104.5 million.

Resolute Energy shares have decreased nearly 2 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $30.95, an increase of roughly 2 percent in the last 12 months.
