Ridley Scott, David Zucker Developing Legal Drama at CBS (EXCLUSIVE)

CBS is developing a legal drama from Ridley Scott, David Zucker and writer Brett Mahoney, Variety has learned exclusively.

Titled “Mrs. V. Mr.,” the project follows a prominent, larger-than-life L.A. defense attorney and the chief prosecutor for the DA’s office who are constantly at odds in the courtroom, but are a happily married couple who have to leave their rivalries at the door when it comes to raising their three willful kids.

Mahoney, an exec producer on CBS’s “MacGyver” and “Code Black,” will pen the pilot script and serve as an exec producer with Scott and Zucker, who are producing via their Scott Free Productions. CBS Television Studios is also producing.

“Mrs. V. Mr.” is the latest CBS project from Scott Free Prods., which was behind David Zabel’s medical drama “Sensory,” which was ordered to pilot last year for the 2016-2017 cycle, but then was rolled from last season. Insiders say that project is still active.

Scott, Zucker and Mahoney all have long-standing ties with CBS. Ridley was an exec producer on the just-cancelled “BrainDead;” Zucker was an exec producer on “The Good Wife;” and the duo both worked on “Numb3rs.” Aside from “MacGyver” and “Code Black,” Mahoney was a writer/producer on “CSI: Miami” and “Stalker.”
