Rihanna Shared More Details on Her Fenty Luxury Fashion Line

I want it all.·Teen Vogue

The world is getting its first look at Rihanna's upcoming luxury fashion line. Just days after announcing the impending launch of Fenty, the star who can truly do it all has taken to the digital cover of T: The New York Times Style Magazine to give fans a glorious first look at its debut collection.

Confirming that the line will arrive at a Paris pop-up store on May 24 and online on May 29, Rihanna wore an entirely Fenty wardrobe for the interview. Among the items featured are a Japanese corset denim dress ($810); accessories including leather shoes and sunglasses; a pink cotton canvas suit jacket ($1,100) and matching corset blazer dress ($1,100); an oversize Japanese denim jacket ($1,100); and a tan suit with pleated trousers ($485) and jacket ($1,100). Rihanna also said that Fenty's debut line was heavily inspired by corsets, and she's included the pieces in a suit, a dress, a shirt, a denim jacket and a T-shirt dress.

Speaking with the magazine, Rihanna confirmed that she saw herself as inspiration for the line. "I use myself as the muse," she said. "It’s sweatpants with pearls, or a masculine denim jacket with a corset. I feel like we live in a world where people are embracing every bit of who they are." She specifically pointed to Jaden Smith and Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) as examples. Both have demonstrated their willingness to challenge traditional style norms, with Jaden frequently making a statement in dresses or skirts and Donald Glover designing a shoe for Adidas that was intentionally created to look as if someone else had worn them.

Going one step further, Rihanna also revealed that the brand intends to disrupt the traditional model of how fashion pieces are released. Instead of showing items on a runway first, Fenty will directly release its collections online. "People are always looking for the thing that hasn’t made it online yet," she said. "And as a consumer, I hate seeing something on the runway and then having to wait six months for it. I had to wait all that time to get it…. With this, you see it, you love it, you can have it. I want to be as disruptive as possible. The brand is not traditional. There is no runway show. It’s a new way of doing things because I believe that this is where fashion is going to go eventually."

In true Rihanna fashion, the founder of Fenty Beauty even shared a bit of what we can expect for the next Fenty line, saying that the next drop will include prints that look like "ancient paintings that we’re making dresses and skirt suits out of." Looks like we better go ahead and bookmark fenty.com.
