TORONTO (AP) _ Rogers Communication Inc. (RCI) on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $294.1 million.
On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had profit of 57 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 59 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.
The communications and media company posted revenue of $2.7 billion in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.8 billion.
Rogers Communication shares have climbed nearly 4 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 17 percent in the last 12 months.
