Rogue Games and AppOnBoard announce partnership for interactive ads and demos on mobile
The mobile publisher and a company driving 'codeless' app development have teamed up to bring better early adoption rates and interactive ads to Rogue Games' portfolio.

Mobile publisher, Rogue Games, and AppOnBoard, the company behind AppOnBoard Studio, a "codeless" app development environment, have announced a partnership that will bring interactive ads and demos to Rogue Games' portfolio. The first game to utilize AppOnBoard's tech will be Chaos Battle League and Oz: Broken Kingdom.
Rogue Games has been busy in its first year. When Mike DeLaet, formerly of Kabam, founded Rogue last September with alums from Apple and IGN, the most critical concern was ensuring that Rogue "kept up" with the rest of the market. The business of being a mobile publisher moves fast, especially when you're in a start-up mindset. Now, with a $1.25 million investment secured from Grishin Robotics, Rogue is starting to find its sea legs.
This partnership with AppOnBoard will allow Rogue to steer its titles through the choppy "early adoption" waters. AppOnBoard Studio's toolset allows games to provide demos, even if they're not on iOS, which offers demos for mobile games as a built-in platform feature. Google Play, on the other hand, does not.
“Early adoption titles using AppOnboard Studio have demonstrated a significant increase in organic installs and discovery, as well as increased engagement and retention, so we are thrilled to be working with this forward-thinking team,” DeLaet said in a statement.
The free-to-play model has evolved quite a bit over the years to include both benign and predatory practices to ensure engagement and healthy cash flow to fund development and live-ops. Interactive ads are fairly benign, as they don't necessarily encourage additional microtransaction spend, but can be pricey to get started with.

Interactive ads have fast become a staple in mobile games -- they naturally coexist in the same space. And as more free-to-play mobile games move toward interactivity in advertisements, Rogue Games' partnership enables partnered developers to release games with these functions built in, rather than having to go through a third-party advertising platform.
