PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - January 29, 2015) - rollApp Inc. today has launched a new online service rollMyFile.com. It allows users to open online nearly any file one may have on their computer eliminating the need to find, download and install software necessary to work with a particular type of file. It is as simple as dragging the file onto the web page.
rollMyFile.com allows opening in a browser over 500 major file formats, including:
eBooks: epub, fb2, djvu and others;
zip, rar, and other archives;
Documents: Microsoft Word files: doc, docx; Rich Text files: rtf; OpenOffice Writer files: odt; Word Perfect files: wpd; PDFs and others;
Spreadsheets: Microsoft Excel files: xls, xlsx; OpenOffice Calc files: ods, ots; Comma-Separated Values files: csv;
Presentations: Microsoft PowerPoint files: ppt, pptx, pps, ppsx; OpenOffice Impress files: odp, otp;
Graphics: jpg, png, bmp, gif, svg, tiff and many others including Adobe Photoshop's psd and Adobe Illustrator's ai;
Diagrams: Microsoft Visio files: vsd and others like dia, fig;
Publishing files: PostScript: eps, ps; Scribus files: scd, sla; and more;
Software source code: almost all popular programming languages: C++, PHP, Python, and more.
At this time rollMyFile.com does not open video and audio files; it also does not support exe files (executable programs).
rollMyFile.com builds on top of rollApp's online virtualization platform that makes it possible to work with existing desktop applications on any device. The applications are executed remotely on rollApp's cloud infrastructure and streamed to end-users' devices using proprietary HTML5-based technology. When a user uploads a file to rollMyFile.com, the service automatically finds and launches online an application capable of opening this file.
rollMyFile.com works with Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers on desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks and tablets.
The service aims to help users who occasionally need to work with files, which they cannot (or do not want to) open with locally installed software, and allows viewing of these files for free. To be able to edit files and save changes, a user has to purchase rollApp Premium subscription, which starts from $5.99 a month. Developers can signup for early access to rollMyFile API to integrate file opening capabilities into their applications.
