Source: Kremlin-aligned media outlet RIA Novosti

Details: The news agency reports that Shoigu personally inspected "practical exercises in fire, tactical and medical training".

At the training ground, he listened to reports from Colonel-General Yunus-bek Yevkurov, the Deputy Minister of Defense, and Colonel-General Ivan Buvaltsev, the Chief of the Main Department of Combat Training of the Russian Armed Forces, on "combat training courses for the mobilised in various military registration specialties, as well as further combat coordination within units".

Quote: "Training is held with increased intensity, particularly at night. The head of the defence department drew special attention of the command to the conditions of accommodation and provision of hot meals to the mobilised both in the location of the unit and on the training grounds."

Background:

  • Mobilisation in the Russian Federation may further impact the Russian economy due to the conscription of thousands of workers and the flight of thousands more abroad.

  • Russia’s enlistment task force has begun issuing conscription notices to Russians right on the border with Georgia.
