Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Sparkly Shoes Stole the Show at the Woman of Leadership Awards

Ruth Bader Ginsburg may not have been taking home an award at the Woman of Leadership Awards, officially known as the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Awards, but she certainly stole the spotlight thanks to an unexpected footwear choice. CNN's Kate Bennett captured Ginsburg's shoes and posted them to Twitter, writing, "Yes. All the yes."

Martha Stewart was also at the event and offered up another view of Ginsburg's shimmering shoes in an Instagram post. Justice Ginsburg paired the heels with a patterned blazer and statement earrings.

The recipient of the inaugural Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award is Agnes "Aggie" Gund, a philanthropist and art patron.

Comments flooded Stewart's posts, with fans praising Ginsburg's shoes.

"Fabulous!!! Look at the Justice’s shoes! Love it. Gurl has style," one wrote.

"You sparkle and I am not just talking about your shoes," another added.

People notes that the shoes aren't the first time that Ginsburg's accessories have made headlines. One of the justice's necklaces caught the public's attention when eagle-eyed fans noticed that Ginsburg tended to wear the design on days she was dissenting — she even wore it the day after Donald Trump was elected president back in 2016. It was so popular, in fact, that Banana Republic, whice made the rhinestone and crochet piece, reissued the necklace and called it the "Notorious Necklace." Ginsburg got the statement-making collar at Glamour’s Woman of the Year event back in 2012 and told Katie Couric that she wore it on days that she disagreed on decisions because "it looks fitting for dissents."
