Ryan Reynolds eyed to star in Netflix's upcoming Dragon's Lair movie

From Digital Spy

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly circling a role in Netflix's movie adaptation of the video game Dragon's Lair.

The Deadpool favourite recently worked with the streaming service on 6 Underground, a Michael Bay actioner, so there's already a solid ground to build from here.

The news comes via Deadline, which states that Reynolds is currently in talks to produce and star in the project, with no director currently in place.

Dragon's Lair originates as an arcade game from the 1980s – created by Rick Dyer and Don Bluth – which centred on a knight named Dirk the Daring and his quest to rescue a princess from an evil dragon and a warlock.

The adaptation's screenplay is reportedly being worked on by Daniel and Kevin Hageman, who've previously given us Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and The Croods 2.

He's played a vampire hunter (Blade: Trinity), beloved Pokémon character (Detective Pikachu) and a Merc with a Mouth, but Reynolds is yet to suit up as a medieval knight.

Is that all about to change?

Meanwhile, back in December, the actor confirmed that a third Deadpool movie was in development.

"We're working on it right now with the whole team. We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it," he said during an appearance on US daytime show Live with Kelly and Ryan.

The future is bright, despite our current situation.
