Ryanair flight diverted to Madrid after fist fight causes ‘chaos’ on board

A Ryanair flight had to be diverted after a fist fight broke out on board.

Flight FR655 from Glasgow to Malaga on 14 February landed at Madrid instead to offload a disruptive passenger.

Another passenger on the flight told the Daily Record that two men starting fighting and that they were “definitely drunk.”

“Two guys were physically fighting and there was chaos,” they said.

“There was a hen party around them so as soon as the fight started they were screaming.”

They added that cabin crew had to appeal for help over the tannoy; one of the men was “restrained” and “strapped into the seat the stewards sit in.”

Another eye witness told the Glasgow Evening Times that the brawl was sparked when one of the men began hassling women who were on a hen do.

“Two men were trading punches in a full fist fight in the aisle,” they said, adding that “the back of the plane was in absolute chaos.

“One drunk man was still causing a scene and resisting 20 minutes later.”

The flight touched down in Madrid on Thursday evening, where police were waiting to remove the disruptive passenger.

Ryanair said in a statement: “This flight from Glasgow Prestwick to Malaga (14 Feb) diverted to Madrid and the crew requested police assistance upon arrival after a passenger became disruptive in-flight.

“The aircraft landed normally and police removed and detained an individual before the aircraft continued to Malaga.

“We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour at any time and the safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority.

“This is now a matter for local police.”
