CHICAGO (AP) _ Ryerson Holding Corp. (RYI) on Monday reported a loss of $8.6 million in its fourth quarter.
The Chicago-based company said it had a loss of 23 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 19 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 9 cents per share.
The metal products distributor and processor posted revenue of $682.2 million in the period, beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $679.3 million.
For the year, the company reported net income of $18.7 million, or 54 cents per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $2.86 billion.
Ryerson shares have decreased 24 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $10.15, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
