iPhone 6s vs. iPhone 6: The ultimate comparison video

The iPhone 6s looks a lot like last year’s iPhone 6, but don’t be fooled: Apple’s newest iPhone packs a lot of killer improvements. Dom Esposito of 9to5Mac has put together a seven-minute video that gives us the most extensive comparison between the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s that we’ve seen yet and it does a nice job of highlighting differences big and small.

FROM EARLIER: There’s a great new iOS 9 feature you might have to turn off right now

Esposito starts off by acknowledging that the overall hardware design on the iPhone 6s is virtually unchanged from the iPhone 6. In fact, he says the best way to make sure the world knows you have the 6s is by buying the new rose gold edition. The new devices are slightly thicker and heavier than last year’s models, of course, but it’s likely not something you’ll notice without taking a really close look.

So what are the big improvements? Esposito says Touch ID now works twice as fast as it did last year, that the 2GB of RAM helps apps open more quickly than ever before, and that 3D Touch has a lot of potential for the future, although he says that for now third-party app support is “limited.” As for the new 12-megapixel camera, he doesn’t see that much of a difference between it and last year’s 8-megapixel camera, although he thinks both take terrific pictures.
