It’s been a long time coming, but we now know what the final tower will look like when it’s built at the site of the old World Trade Center in New York. Wired has an exclusive report about the design of Two World Trade Center, which will be next to One World Trade Center and will be a massive tower in its own right that measures in at 1,340 feet tall. This still isn’t as tall as One World Trade Center, which is a gigantic 1,368 feet from the ground to its roof and 1,792 feet when you account for its spire.
As you can see at the picture at the top of the page, the new building will have a stepped tower design that is completely different from the more conventional tower design at One World Trade Center. According to Wired, this will represent the architect’s “21st-century reinterpretation of one of Manhattan’s Jazz Age ziggurats.”
