Sean F. Taylor is the new executive director of SAG-AFTRA's San Francisco - Northern California Local, the union announced Thursday. Effective immediately, he'll oversee the organization's day-to-day business in the region.
Taylor was most recently the assistant executive director and central regional director in Chicago for Actors' Equity, the union representing stage performers. Prior to Equity, he worked for AFTRA, and then SAG-AFTRA, from 2004 to 2013.
"Sean has a proven track record of fighting for our members and I know the San Francisco - Northern California Local will be in good hands," SAG-AFTRA national executive director David White said in a statement. "We are delighted to have someone with his background and expertise back on board."
Taylor holds a JD from Chicago's John Marshall School of Law. He reports to SAG-AFTRA associate national executive director Mathis Dunn and replaces Leonard Egert, who left in July to become national executive director of the American Guild of Musical Artists.
"I am impressed with the work Sean has done for performers at [Equity], as well as with his background in broadcast negotiation. We look forward to working with him and drawing on his depth of knowledge and experience with the issues our members face," said San Francisco - Northern California Local president Kathryn Howell. "We are fortunate to have found a new executive director who can hit the ground running."
