Salesforce.com: Fiscal 2Q Earnings Snapshot

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Salesforce.com Inc. (CRM) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $2.63 billion.

The San Francisco-based company said it had net income of $2.85 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.44 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 67 cents per share.

The customer-management software developer posted revenue of $5.15 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.9 billion.

For the current quarter ending in November, Salesforce.com expects its per-share earnings to range from 73 cents to 74 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $5.24 billion to $5.25 billion for the fiscal third quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $5.01 billion.

Salesforce.com expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.72 to $3.74 per share, with revenue ranging from $20.7 billion to $20.8 billion.

Salesforce.com shares have increased 33% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen roughly 7%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $216.05, an increase of 39% in the last 12 months.
