The Paris-based company said it had profit of 11 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 63 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 62 cents per share.
The drugmaker posted revenue of $10.27 billion in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $5.09 billion, or $2.04 per share. Revenue was reported as $40.7 billion.
Sanofi shares have fallen slightly since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 3 percent in the last 12 months.
