SANW: Rounding out the stable of stevia plants aimed at potential markets. Revenue by geographical markets showed declines in nearly all major markets but we are looking for an uptick in the third quarter.

By Ian Gilson

S&W Seed (SANW) has been granted a plant Patent on its fourth variety of stevia. This patent, applied for in March 2017, is for SW 227 aimed at the leaf market. The plant has enhanced leaf production with a Reb A content of over 10%. In our opinion the plant lends itself to machine harvesting.
The company now has four patented varieties that have been tailored to differing climates but show increased levels of Reb A and lower concentrations of bitter compounds than found in earlier version of stevia plants.
The geographical distribution of revenue became available when the SEC filings were published. We expect gains Y/Y in domestic sales in 3Q18 and small gains in Arabian countries.
