Sarah Palin Is Becoming the Next Judge Judy

But without the law degree·Fortune

Sarah Palin may soon be coming to daytime television.

The former vice presidential candidate who we couldn’t stop watching when she ran with Republican John McCain in 2008 has recently signed a production deal to be a television judge on a reality courtroom show, People reports. Palin, former governor of Alaska and a best-selling author, is working on the project with the Montana-based production company Warm Springs.

The company approached her about it in 2015, and since then it has assembled a team to work on the show, including the television executive that is credited with discovering Judith Sheindlin, more commonly known as Judge Judy, and Judge Joe Brown. A source close to the project tells People that Palin signed the deal in February and now “she’ll meet with stations, make a pilot and sell it.” If it’s sold, it will air nationwide as a syndicated daytime television show by the fall of 2017.

Though Palin doesn’t have a juris doctor degree like Judges Judy and Brown, the source said that she is good for this role because her “telegenic personality, wide appeal and common sense wisdom make her a natural for this kind of format. The source added that “she was Warm Springs' top pick for this project.”

Palin hasn’t had much luck in television before. She starred in her own reality television show on TLC called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” that had a brief run from November 2010 until the following January. She was also a contributor for Fox News two separate times, the most recent of which was just last year, and was fired both of those times.
