Needless to say, we’re pretty reliant on technology. From listening to music to looking up the weather and dining options, we are completely indebted to our smart devices. And if you’re looking for yet another device to make life at home even more convenient, then the Google Home Mini speaker may be worth considering.
Right now, you can save $20 on Google’s highly-rated Home Mini smart speaker. The device normally retails for $49 but is available for $29 at Office Depot.
Released in 2017, the Home Mini smart speaker has many of the same basic features as the larger Google Home. For example, you can select songs from your music playlists, make hands-free calls and check the news and weather in your neighborhood with a simple voice command.

The only real difference between the two, as noted by Lifewire, comes down to sound quality. While the Mini does provide premium sound for listening to music, it’s primarily designed as a speaker for Google Assistant. For instance, it has two microphones to help pick up commands from a distance, according to the product description.
Additionally, the device is much smaller. It stands at two inches tall and is four inches wide, so it can comfortably fit in compact spaces. I have one myself and I like to place it on my coffee table or on my bathroom counter next to my overflowing basket of skincare products.
But I’m not the only one who’s a fan. In fact, the Mini speaker has over 250 five-star reviews at Office Depot, with some shoppers calling it “cost-effective” and “helpful.”
“We use this little speaker throughout the day to give us the weather, the news, turn on and off lights, remind us of appointments and hear music,” one shopper wrote. “A great addition to our home.”
Another reviewer pointed out how useful the Mini speaker was in responding to different search queries.
“This little device is incredible, I bought five of them on sales,” they mentioned. “Saves a lot of time looking things up. You can ask it almost anything and you will get an immediate answer. Tech at its best.”
And despite experiencing occasional glitches using the voice command, one shopper noted that the speaker was still “worth the price.”
“I like Google Home Mini. It sometimes doesn’t pick up what you say, that’s the only disadvantage,” the reviewer wrote. “Otherwise, you can ask simple questions and it will answer and give the source it found it from. I really like it. It is worth the price [you’re] paying.”
