MONACO (AP) _ Scorpio Tankers Inc. (STNG) on Thursday reported a loss of $17.7 million in its fourth quarter.
The company said it had a loss of 38 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 47 cents per share.
The shipping company posted revenue of $167.5 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $167.2 million, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $162.9 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $190.1 million, or $5.46 per share. Revenue was reported as $585 million.
Scorpio Tankers shares have climbed slightly more than 1 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 23 percent in the last 12 months.
