A wax statue featuring the likeness of Diddy was toppled over and decapitated by a vandal who then made a run for it.

The figure of the music mogul, 49, was sitting on the ninth floor of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York City when a man entered the venue just before 9 p.m. Saturday, a spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed to PEOPLE.

Once he made his way up, the man pushed the Diddy (né Sean Combs) figure to the ground, “causing the head to come loose from the body,” police said.

NBC 4 New York reports that once the head was off, the suspect then stomped on it, causing at least $300,000 worth of damage, according to the New York Post. He also reportedly yelled at the figure before fleeing the scene.

A spokesperson for Madame Tussauds told the Associated Press that the damage done to the star’s wax figure — which made its debut in 2009 — will be fixed as soon as possible to that it can return to its rightful spot in the A-List Party Room.

Figures in the museum stand out in the open and guests are welcome to interact with them — “respectfully,” general manager Tom Middleton told the outlet.

Madame Tussauds did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
