The Secret Weapon Business Executives Are Deploying Against COVID-19? German Air Purifiers

What do a retail estate mogul, a men’s cosmetics brand and a jewelry designer all have in common? A love and trust of German engineering.

As the coronavirus pandemic resurges across the United States, community gatherings and social functions have largely been curtailed to prevent the spread of the virus. But executives have found a unique technology to work around this problem by pulling the virus from the air and eliminating it in its tracks. Atmofizer is a state-of-the-art air filtration system developed by German engineers designed to bundle and neutralize COVID-19 virus particles—compared to its filter-based competition, which has shown to have a low effectiveness in trapping ultra-fine particles.

“I love to entertain but needed a safe way to do it,” Modell’s Sporting Goods CEO Mitchell Modell told Worth. “I’ve been using the Atmofizer at my Miami home, and it’s been a major conversation starter. A lot of terrific innovations are happening in the fight against the coronavirus, especially with the vaccines, and this is one of them.”

Most HEPA filter-based systems report a high efficiency for particles around 300 nanometers in size, but only a 40 to 50 percent effectiveness of particles at 100 nanometers in size; coronavirus particle size average 120 nanometers. Atmofizer has addressed the difficult problem of filtering out these ultra-fine particles (UFPs) by bundling the UFPs using sound wave technology into larger particles that can then be neutralized by its UC-V light technology. Atmofizer stands at two feet tall, and its portability functions similarly to a rollable space heater that can be placed anywhere in a room. Once placed, it pulls air from the room and neutralizes ultra-fine particles, such as the coronavirus found in respiratory droplets from either breathing or sneezing, before recirculating the purified air back into the space. It has the capability to filter a space of up to 2,000 square feet.

“We knew we needed to create a system trusted by the leading figures in business,” Atmofizer CEO Torsten Maehle told Worth. That’s why we employed advanced technology beyond traditional methods used to inculcate a sense of trust and safety in our customers.”

According to experts like Joseph Allen, an assistant professor of exposure assessment science and director of the Healthy Buildings Program at Harvard University, portable air filtration systems like Atmofizer can “absolutely help reduce the risk of airborne transmission of COVID-19.” The best systems, Allen said, are those that have the capability of reducing the virus by 99 percent. The advanced technology used by Atmofizer goes beyond traditional technology used in air filtration systems, like HEPA and PECO, which enables the device to achieve a high percentage of filtered air. The CDC recommends products like Atmofizer for buildings and those who have a budget of $2,000+.

Despite the product’s high price point of $7,500, it sold out due to its high demand among executives like Modell. Some entrepreneurs are even using it to ensure their product inventory remains free of contaminants before reaching customers.

New York-based jewelry designer Heidi Gardner is likewise using the Atmofizer for her renowned dinner parties for influencers and beauty industry staples, saying it has “made all the difference in creating a healthy environment for guests.”

As the Atmofizer gains traction in elite circles, the product is establishing itself as the world’s most innovative and effective clean air technology against COVID-19.
