See how Martin Scorsese is six-degrees separated from every Best Picture Oscar nominee

As this year’s Best Picture contenders duke it out in the run-up to the Oscars, one thing unites them all: Martin Scorsese.

EW can exclusively reveal Netflix’s infographic (below) charting the iconic Irishman director’s six degrees of separation from all of this year’s nominees in the Academy’s top category.

Inspired by the recent spate of awards winners who’ve paid tribute to Scorsese in their various acceptance speeches — including 1917 helmer Sam Mendes during his Golden Globes speech and Bong Joon Ho at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards — the graphic serves as a visual roadmap, tracing all the ways Scorsese is connected to his seasonal competition.

Among the connections include how Scorsese is related to Director Bong (Scorsese produced 2019’s The Souvenir, which starred Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer actress Tilda Swinton), Laura Dern (The Irishman‘s Joe Pesci appeared in My Cousin Vinny with Marisa Tomei, who costarred in Captain America: Civil War with Dern’s Marriage Story scene partner Scarlett Johansson), and Joker (not only does Todd Phillips’ Joker pay homage to Scorsese’s 1982 film The King of Comedy, which starred Robert De Niro, but the actor also portrays late-night talk show host Murray Franklin opposite Joaquin Phoenix‘s Clown Prince of Crime).
