NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Select Income REIT (SIR) today announced that Jeffrey C. Leer has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, effective December 1, 2018.
Mr. Leer was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of RMR and he is currently responsible for the day to day oversight of the accounting and finance support functions of RMR and various affiliates. Mr. Leer has been with The RMR Group (RMR) for over five years in various accounting leadership functions. Prior to joining RMR, Mr. Leer held accounting and finance positions at several Fortune 500 companies as well as practiced for several years in public accounting. Mr. Leer is also a certified public accountant.
Mr. Leer succeeds John C. Popeo, who is retiring and therefore resigning from his positions with both SIR and RMR, effective November 30, 2018. To ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Popeo will remain a non-executive employee of RMR until his retirement on March 30, 2019.
Adam D. Portnoy, Managing Trustee of SIR and Managing Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of RMR, made the following statement:
“John joined RMR in 1997 and SIR in 2011. His guidance helped SIR grow from a $900 million REIT to the over $4 billion REIT it is today. During that time, he maintained a well-managed and conservative balance sheet, which enabled the company to earn and keep investment grade ratings since 2014, and support strong dividend growth over time. On behalf of the SIR and RMR Boards, I want to thank John for his many years of service.”
Mr. Leer has also been recently appointed as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Government Properties Income Trust (GOV).
