The Senior Strategy Advisor of Plus500 Ltd. (LON:PLUS), Alon Gonen, Just Bought 6.9% More Shares

Plus500 Ltd. (LON:PLUS) shareholders (or potential shareholders) will be happy to see that the Senior Strategy Advisor, Alon Gonen, recently bought a whopping UK£3.8m worth of stock, at a price of UK£7.63. There's no denying a buy of that magnitude suggests conviction in a brighter future, although we do note that proportionally it only increased their holding by 6.9%.

Plus500 Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent purchase by Alon Gonen was the biggest purchase of Plus500 shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is UK£8.50. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Plus500 insiders own 7.1% of the company, worth about UK£66m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.

It is good to see the recent insider purchase. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. Given that insiders also own a fair bit of Plus500 we think they are probably pretty confident of a bright future.
