On a per-share basis, the San Diego-based company said it had a loss of 8 cents.
The maker of food flavorings posted revenue of $4.2 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $10.7 million, or 24 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $23 million.
For the current quarter ending in April, Senomyx said it expects revenue in the range of $4.2 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $1.06. A year ago, they were trading at $3.34.
