Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant’s new signature shoe with Nike is perhaps the most technology-advanced sneaker yet, and you can own a pair of the KD13 in a colorway inspired by the two-time champion’s rich and diverse music library.
“The intent behind a Zoom Bag is similar to that of a mechanical spring underfoot,” Ross Klein, Senior Creative Director for Nike Basketball said, via Sneaker Files. “The essence of a spring is to return the amount of energy you put into it. In the KD13, we’re doubling the spring in the form of the double-stacked forefoot Zoom, allowing you more travel in the system and more energy back.”
Visually, they’re stunning. But if you want to channel your inner champion, the KD13 promises to do that as well. The Swoosh’s signature Zoom Air unit is stitched directly to the upper while an additional Zoom Air unit can be found in the forefoot, providing maximum responsiveness and optimal energy return.
Additional features include visible cutouts in the midsole that help reduce weight and a lightweight, flexible soft upper made from minimal materials to give it a broken-in feel right out of the box. The KD13 “Hype” gives a nod to hip-hop culture and fashion with gold chain and flower graphics on the upper, enhancing the aesthetics of the shoes.
Two more colorways are rumored to drop this month, but snag this must-have collector’s item before it quickly sells out.
