Short-term calls look for pop in Ford

Chris McKhann (chris.mckhann@optionmonster.com)

Ford shares are climbing today, and traders are making a cheap bet that the auto maker will see more gains before the week is done.

More than 139,000 F options have changed hands today, compared to a daily average of 55,000. Topping the action are the March 13.50 calls that are looking for another pop before they expire at the end of Friday's session. (See our Education section)

More than 33,000 of those calls have traded against open interest of just 50 contracts. An enormous print of 25,000 was bought for $0.02, according to optionMONSTER systems.

F is up 2.04 percent to $13.25, which would be its highest close since coming off a high of $14.30 at the end of January. Shares bounced off support near $12 two weeks ago.
