showd.me Develops Breakthrough Enterprise Peer-to-Peer Learning Platform

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 18, 2014) - showd.me, the New York based technology start up focused on innovating talent development, today unveiled its new platform for enterprise peer-to-peer learning. The platform will include elements such as searchable profiles, self-managed session scheduling, web conferencing, Google apps integration and more, providing an industry first suite of tools that addresses all the key challenges of traditional learning management systems (LMSes). The open-API platform will allow any employee of an organization to request the opportunity to spend time with another employee and learn from them.

According to the Association for Talent Development, more than $164 billion was spent by U.S. organizations on employee learning in 2012. Of this expenditure, 61% ($100.2 billion) was spent internally, such as staff salaries and internal development costs. External services comprised 30% ($46.9 billion). Yet research conducted by Bersin by Deloitte indicates that 80% of learning takes place through on-the-job interactions with peers, experts and managers.

showd.me helps organizations create greater learning and development opportunities by better leveraging their workforce in their talent development plans. Through showd.me, employees of an organization can create profiles, which are easily integrated with LinkedIn and populated with key skills and areas of expertise that are then searchable in the system. Any colleague can then search and request virtual or classroom sessions based on specific skills, keywords or topics of interest. Registration, approval and roster management is automated and employees can use native chat, video, audio, screen sharing and file sharing tools with cross-platform functionality (such as mobile to PC) during their real-time training. Human resources and training and development teams can also generate reports on data and insights on employees' skills, enabling informed decisions on employees. showd.me's platform will change how organizations onboard and train new hires, develop employee expertise and identify new career paths.

"We like showd.me's social approach to talent development," said Matt Swerdloff, partner at Anthiem Ventures. "It shows an in-depth understanding of today's employee learning behavior that I have not seen from other systems. They've thought about the solution from every angle -- organization, human resources team and employee -- and have created a platform that works for all sides."

"We sought to create a platform that would fill the gap in traditional learning management systems and the customized learning experience employees wanted," said Avi Singer, founder, showd.me. "While LMSes were great as content distribution and registration systems, the majority of the workforce is getting younger, more social and moving away from rigid systems. showd.me will combine all the functionality of an LMS with the customization, usability and social elements that foster knowledge growth in today's employee."

Pricing is based on active users per month and licensing starts at $5/user/month.
