Sigma Joins Public Health England

Sigma Life Science, an innovative biological products and services business of Sigma- Aldrich Corporation (SIAL), has signed a deal with the Culture Collections of Public Health England, curators for the European Collection of Cell Cultures (:ECACC). Sigma Life Science and the Public Health England will jointly distribute ECACC cell lines in the UK.

As per the agreement, ECACC collection of expertly preserved and authenticated human and animal cell cultures will be available through the Sigma-Aldrich website www.sigma.com/ecacc. With the agreement in place, scientists all across the globe will have easy access to the ECACC cell lines.

ECACC serves the research community and provides an International Depository Authority recognized patent depository for Europe. ECACC cell lines are authenticated using Short Tandem Repeat profiling and other proprietary techniques. Authenticated ECACC help in eliminating potential research variables, thus leading to a reduction in time and expense for researchers. The ECACC provide the researches with readily available and high quality products.

Few days ago, Sigma-Aldrich signed a deal with Applied Minerals, Inc. (AMNL), a leading global producer of halloysite clay solutions. Under the deal, Aldrich Materials Science, a strategic technology initiative of Sigma-Aldrich, will market and distribute research quantities of Dragonite halloysite clay. Applied Minerals, on the other hand, will market its halloysite clay solutions to customers through its domestic and international sales network.

Sigma-Aldrich is a leading life sciences and high technology company. It develops, manufactures and distributes various biochemicals and organic chemicals. These chemical products and kits are used in scientific and genomic research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, diagnosis of diseases and chemical manufacturing.

Sigma-Aldrich currently maintains a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).

Other companies in the specialty chemicals industry with a favorable Zacks Rank are Balchem Corp. (BCPC) and Prospect Global Resources, Inc. (PGRX). While Balchem holds a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), Prospect Global retains a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
