Silent Witness viewers in tears over emotional Clarissa storyline

Silent Witness fans were incredibly moved by Clarissa Mullery's emotional scenes last night (January 28) .

Portrayed by Liz Carr, Clarissa faced some tough decisions throughout the most recent episode, as she learnt that her mum (who already has dementia) had been diagnosed with cancer and would be starting chemotherapy.

Following this treatment, Clarissa's mum was left disorientated and lashed out sporadically.

Over on Twitter, Silent Witness viewers made their feelings known as the upsetting storyline played out, with many reduced to tears by the episode.

"Clarissa's storyline with her mum was absolutely heartbreaking. It hit v.close to home, and had me in tears a couple of times, and I think that was just testament to what an talent @thelizcarr is and how incredibly she played it. B r i l l i a n t," one viewer shared.

Another added: "Very well acted scene with Clarissa and her mum. So true of dementia and a great example of how to be with someone who has it."

And a third said: "#SilentWitness why was that scene with Jack and Clarissa's mum the purest thing I've ever seen in my whole life I'm crying."

The actress herself teased Clarissa's horrendous situation on Twitter yesterday (January 27) writing: "This weeks story is the biggest storyline me and Clarissa have ever had on the show - and yes, Max is back. . ."
