Single-family home prices, sales climb in RI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- New housing figures show the median single-family home price rose 10 percent in Rhode Island to nearly $210,000 in the second quarter.

The Rhode Island Association of Realtors said Tuesday the median price from April through June was the second-highest for a quarter since 2010 and has been climbing all year.

The group also reported that 15 percent more single-family homes were sold during the quarter than during the same period last year.

The median sales price for condos rose 19 percent to $203,000 and sales increased 28 percent. The multi-family home median price rose 5 percent. Sales were up 2 percent.

Distressed sales fell in all three categories, to 20 percent of single-family home sales, 18 percent of condo sales and 38 percent of multi-family sales.
