Twelve years ago, President Donald Trump married Melania Krauss in a quaint, million-dollar wedding at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. A piece of cake from the reception was auctioned off last week by Julien's Auctions for a cool $2,240.

The piece of cake isn't from the giant, seven-tier cake the Trumps cut into, though. Trump's actual wedding cake was so large it had to be held up with wire, and as such wasn't edible. Instead, guests were given an individual chocolate truffle cake covered in white frosting and a white frosting rose to take home.

The souvenir cake auctioned off last week came in a white paper box monogrammed with "M D T." Bidding closed Friday, and the final price was slightly higher than the estimate of $1,000 to $2,000.

The cake was sold as part of an "Icons & Idols: Hollywood and More" sale. Other items in the auction included a piece of Judy Garland's luggage, a Nobel Peace Prize medal, and a medical file pertaining to Marilyn Monroe's cosmetic surgery. You can't make this stuff up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Trump's display cake weighed more than 200 pounds, and reportedly cost $50,000. It was created by Cedric Barberet, the then-head pastry chef at Trump's Mar-a-Lago, where the president's third wedding was held. The towering cake was covered in white roses made from sugar, making it look like a giant bouquet. It was eaten by the Mar-a-Lago staff after the wedding, Barberet says.
