Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Josh Hart has sustained a small fracture in his left hand and is evaluating surgical and non-surgical recovery options, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The injury occurred in practice Wednesday, and Hart underwent tests that revealed the fracture. He likely will miss at least a few weeks.

Hart has been a pleasant surprise for the Lakers this season, averaging 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 55 games. He was the 30th overall pick in last year’s NBA draft, following two players who have become cornerstones of the team in Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma.

The 6-foot-5 Hart has played both guard positions and provided the Lakers with flexibility on both ends of the floor.

Hart played four collegiate seasons at Villanova, where he helped lead the program to a national championship in 2016.
