Sources Say Meghan Thinks “If Anyone Should Feel Insulted,” It Should Be Her and Harry

From Cosmopolitan

  • The queen is reportedly “disappointed” in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry over their public response to news they won’t be using “royal.”

  • Sources say Meghan “said if anyone should feel insulted, it should be them.”

Welp, just when everyone was starting to move on from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle justifiably stepping back from senior royal duties (I mean, they’ve been through it!), there’s a buncha new drama about the Sussexes no longer using the word “royal.”

To recap, Meghan and Harry issued a statement about the news on their website which some people thought was vaguely shady. Honestly, it seemed pretty standard and respectful, but apparently, the queen isn’t thrilled—with a source telling Us Weekly “She’s so disappointed that her own grandchild would heap so much embarrassment on the monarchy and bring all this unwanted attention on his family at the worst possible time.”

And now, a source from Meghan and Harry’s “inner circle” is out here telling the Daily Mail that Meghan also isn’t thrilled. “Meghan said that [she and Harry] were left with no choice but to make a public statement. She said if anyone should feel insulted, it should be them. They never intended to capitalize on the word ‘royal’ and to insinuate they were somehow abusing their privileges is absurd.”

The source continued, “She said she and Harry will continue to rise above jealousy and pettiness and focus on the good they are creating and on being the best parents to Archie. She said she will continue to champion Harry because, out of everyone, he has the most integrity and the most loyalty.”

This insider also claims that Meghan thinks the queen was “under pressure to make those demands about the name change” thanks to Harry being the queen’s “favorite and others just can’t deal with it.”

Hmmm...as a reminder, the queen has been outwardly very supportive of Meghan and Harry’s decision, so let’s hope everyone's actually getting along just find behind the scenes! Although a source did recently tell Vanity Fair that “on a personal level, I think this has been rather hurtful for her. She has got to the point where she doesn’t want to think about it anymore. She just wants it over and done with.”
