Southwest names new chief technology officer

DALLAS (AP) -- Southwest Airlines Co. said Friday that it named Craig Maccubbin chief technology officer and vice president of technology operations effective May 6.

He most recently was vice president and chief information officer of Spirit Airlines Inc.

Maccubbin has held a variety of executive positions in the information technology sector in a range of industries, including aviation, Southwest said.

Shares of Dallas-based Southwest rose 34 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $13.32 in afternoon trading.
