Spirit AeroSystems CEO Turner stepping down

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Aircraft parts supplier Spirit AeroSystems said Tuesday that Jeff Turner is stepping down from the CEO post and will be succeeded by a former Lockheed Martin executive.

Spirit AeroSystems Inc. named Larry A. Lawson, former executive vice president of Lockheed Martin's aeronautics unit, as its new president and CEO. His appointment is effective April 6.

Turner, who has served as CEO since the Wichita, Kan. company's creation in 2005, is expected to stay on Spirit AeroSystems' board.
