OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Sprint Corp. (S) on Tuesday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $2.17 billion, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of 53 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs, were 4 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 2 cents per share.
The wireless carrier posted revenue of $8.44 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Thirteen analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.17 billion.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $1.94 billion, or 48 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $33.6 billion.
Sprint shares have declined 0.5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $5.79, an increase of 10% in the last 12 months.
