Sprint Nextel has been courted by Japan's SoftBank, but now Dish Network is stepping in. The U.S. company is offering $7 a share in a cash and stock bid. That has S higher by 15 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

Life Technologies accepts Thermo Takeover

Life Technologies agreed to be acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific for $13.6 billion, or $76 a share, in cash. LIFE, which closed at $68 on Friday, is up 8 percent in early trading.

Miners Hammered by Metal Selloff

Gold and silver miners are trading actively in the premarket as precious metals fall. Pan American Silver and Randgold Resources are the big movers on my tradeMONSTER platform. PAAS is down almost 9 percent and GOLD is lower by 8 percent.
