Spyware Terminator 2015 finds and removes spyware, Web browser cookies, and other software that can potentially compromise your privacy. It's free of charge and features a scan scheduler and real-time protection, but suffers from a large number of ads and locked features.
Automatic scans: Spyware Terminator 2015 can be set to perform regular scans and check for updates to its virus database. You can also specify what to do in case a scheduled scan is missed or your laptop is running on batteries.
Multiple scan modes: You have the ability to choose between a quick, complete, and a custom scan. In our tests, the complete scan took less than 12 minutes and found seven tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and recommended their removal, which required about a second.
Ads and product placements: A large number of functions in the app require a premium license or are outright ads for third-party products; in addition, there is no shortage of regular banners and graphics urging you to buy different software products. Overall, we feel that the developers focused too much on pushing sales and not enough on the user experience.
Resource hungry: Even when our PC was idle and no scan was ongoing, we observed 1-3 percent CPU activity caused by the software. While this won't impact computer performance, it may have a negative effect on your battery life, since it requires the CPU to be active all the time.
Although Spyware Terminator 2015 does a fine job locating spyware and other privacy-compromising files, we were put off by the large number of ads and locked features. If that doesn't bother you, though, then you might enjoy the software. Otherwise, we recommend taking a look at an alternative solution.
