EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ Stantec Inc. (STN) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $13.8 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Edmonton, Alberta-based company said it had a loss of 12 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 34 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.
The engineering firm posted revenue of $1.04 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $690.1 million, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $699.7 million.
Stantec shares have fallen 5 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 4.5 percent in the last 12 months.
