Star Bulk Carriers: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

ATHENS, Greece (AP) _ Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (SBLK) on Monday reported fourth-quarter profit of $12.3 million.

The Athens, Greece-based company said it had profit of 13 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 33 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 25 cents per share.

The shipping company posted revenue of $209.4 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported net income of $59 million, or 76 cents per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $651.6 million.

Star Bulk Carriers shares have decreased 13 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $7.99, a decline of 26 percent in the last 12 months.
