JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Stein Mart Inc. said Thursday that September sales at stores open at least a year rose 5 percent, driven by strength in linens, women's clothing and gifts.
Weaker categories were accessories, men's furnishings and petite.
The strongest regions during the four-week period ended Oct. 5 were Florida, the Southeast and California, while the Midwest and Northeast fared worse.
Total revenue for the month rose more than 7 percent to $112.2 million.
Year-to-date, sales in stores open at least one year rose 3.8 percent, while total revenue rose 4 percent to $807.8 million.
The company operated 263 stores at the end of September, compared with 261 stores last year.
Shares of Stein Mart Inc. closed Wednesday at $13.91, up more than 84 percent since the start of the year.
