Steph Curry talks to astronaut Scott Kelly and apologizes for his moon landing joke

NBA superstar Steph Curry has been doing an awful lot of back-pedaling in recents weeks after he joked on a podcast that he believed the moon landing was fake. And now he's even made amends with astronaut Scott Kelly

As the news of Curry's joke made the rounds last week, drawing comparisons to fellow NBA star Kyrie Irving's flat-earth beliefs, Curry got an earful from just about everyone, including NASA and other NBA teams who were happy to troll the star.

Enter Kelly, who famously spent 340 days in space onboard the International Space Station. He tweeted his concerns to the NBA star about his comments and, to Curry's credit, the pair wound up in a 15-minute chat on Instagram live about, well, everything, including a genuine apology from Curry.

The power stars like Curry hold over this kind of discourse was front of mind to Kelly, who told Curry that believing these more outlandish conspiracy theories can be a slippery slope, leading to mistrust in real, important scientific research, like climate change and vaccinations.

It seems Curry took the lesson to heart, and this conversation sets the record straight —and even leaves hope that maybe science can win out after all.
