Still 'the right job at the right time'? Ex-OU football coach Lincoln Riley gets Twitter heat

Last April, former OU football head coach Lincoln Riley offered an explanation addressing why he left the Sooners for USC shortly after Oklahoma's 2021 regular season ended with a Bedlam loss.

"Curveball" was a memorable metaphor of Riley's.

"As much as my family and I loved Norman and cherished the success we were having on the field, sometimes life throws you curveballs at the most unexpected times," Riley wrote. "Honestly, I always figured I would end my coaching career at OU. But when my agent called me to pass along interest from USC, I was immediately intrigued by the possibilities."

But with news that USC and fellow Pac-12 team UCLA are looking to leave the conference for the Big 10 by 2024, OU fans and others who question the move are wondering: Did Riley plan on coaching in the Big 10 all along?

Whether Riley's playing 3-D chess or just landed on a licorice space in Candyland, plenty of folks who watch college football have something to say about Riley's possible adventures in the Big 10 -- widely considered a stronger football conference than the Pac-12 to which he fled.
