Stocks end brutal week with steep sell-off

The market ends a rough week with a deep sell-off. Will market fears deepen, and what does this mean for next week's huge Fed rate decision? These are the questions investors are asking.

Two big concerns for Wall Street are the continuing steep slide in oil and jitters coming from the high yield, or junk, bond market.

Winners and Losers

Let's take a look at some of today's winners and losers. Among the many stocks in the red today were Puma Biotechnology, Ford, and JetBlue—the airline slipping after it gave disappointing fourth quarter guidance on passenger revenue per available seat mile, a key metric in the the industry. JetBlue saw this falling 2 to 3 percent from last year.

Stocks that bucked the trend higher today were Whole Foods, CSX, and Adobe—the digital sofware company reported that quarterly profit more than doubled from last year as sales jumped 22% thanks to strong growth in its cloud-software offerings.

Fighting higher drug prices



The U.S. Senate is now investigating allegations of drug price gouging. And both doctors and hospital officials have testified that prescription prices are out of control. One doctor at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital is fighting back.

Holiday shopping outlook

The ICSC projects 600 million consumers will visit the country's shopping centers this holiday season, which will be a huge boon for local shopkeepers and mall operators.

Looking ahead

Truck maker Navistar International will release earnings before the bell. It's been a rough ride for Navistar in 2015, with shares down nearly 75% so far this year.

It's finally here - the world premiere for Star Wars The Force Awakens will take place in Los Angeles at an undisclosed location. Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher are expected to attend the event. The movie will go in wide release next Friday, likely to be the biggest film opening ever in America.

Buffalo Wild Wings is unveiling, for a limited time only, Mountain Dew–flavored wings. Buffalo Wild Wings says the flavor, dubbed Zesty Citrus, will feature the "bold citrus flavor of Mountain Dew infused with lemongrass and spicy red-pepper flakes to create a blast of sweet and spicy that will leave guests asking for more."
