Stocks struggle to maintain early gains as US dollar surges

Stocks are roughly flat at the midday mark, with the Dow Industrials (^DJI, DIA), S&P 500 (^GSPC, SPY) and the Nasdaq (^IXIC, QQQ) giving up earlier gains. The financial (XLF) and consumer staples (XLP) sectors are the most in the green, while the energy (XLE) sector is the most in the red. Alan Valdes, director of floor operations at Silverbear, joins us live from the New York Stock Exchange.
